Coach Through Facilitating

with JOEY PETERS

Are you a Coach or a Facilitator?

Would you say Coaching is different from Facilitating?

Could Facilitating be a form of Coaching?
What is your Focus and Aims as a Coach?
I would say the majority of Coaches focus on Teaching Sports Performance. That is, the technical, tactical, physical, and even mental needs of the sport, all within the aims of improving the immediate performance of a team and its individuals.
But Coaching needs to be so much more Holistic and Learner-Centred focused. They are growing buzz words, but how do we ‘Coach’ a Holistic Approach, there’s so much more to Coaching than ‘Teaching’ a sport, and since it can come with a lot of pressure and expectations, we feel Facilitator fits the role so much better.
Coach through Facilitating
So in GPL, Coaches are called Facilitators and that is exactly what we do. Rather than tell kids what they should do and how they should do it, a facilitator’s role is to provide encouragement and guidance while letting children work out solutions for themselves.
Let’s experience and discuss Coaching through Facilitating GPL in an Online Course over 4 Weeks this NOVEMBER with the following Learning Aims:
  1. Why Facilitating is a Powerful form of Coaching
  2. Negotiating the Challenges of Facilitating
  3. Growing your Confidence in Facilitating
  4. How to Facilitate GPL by
    • Facilitating Design

Learn a simple Session prep to Design a dynamic learning Environment

    • Facilitating Games
    • The Top GPL Games that are all you need for a great season and they even run themselves
    • Facilitating Play
    • Providing the full benefits of self-directed Play-based Learning

    • Facilitating Individual and Team Learning

The Person, The Parent, The Family, The Club

These discussions are desperately needed in Sport: From Facilitating grass-roots kids through to Professional adults. You can also apply Facilitating in your workplace or any community context.

Let’s grow our confidence in Facilitating and negotiating the challenges involved, whilst having more fun than ever before.

See you in November!

Happy Playing,

Joey

Facilitate The GPL Way in your own Coaching Context through 9 Zoom Sessions and accompanying Resources with Joey Peters.

Joey’s experience in participating and delivering Coaching Courses means she knows what’s missing and what’s needed. It’s the CONTINUAL Learning that gets left behind and we end up going back to ‘old’ ways we’re comfortable with rather than challenging ourselves to Take Risks, be Creative and Grow as a Learner ourselves… Just as we’re trying to provide that environment for our Learners.

During November, You will enjoy 4 x GPL PlayShops (not WorkShops!) and share your Learnings in 5 accompanying Sunday GPL Facilitator Chat Sessions with the following Principles -

WEEK 1: Sunday 1st - Sunday 8th November:  INTRODUCING FACILITATING and FACILITATE DESIGN

WEEK 2: Monday 9th - Sunday 15th November: FACILITATE GAMES

WEEK 3: Monday 16th - Sunday 22nd: FACILITATE FREE PLAY

WEEK 4: Monday 23rd - Sunday 29th: FACILITATE INDIVIDUAL LEARNING

If you can’t make a Live Zoom, don’t worry - they’ll be recorded.

It would be ideal if you can lead, observe or share in at least one session each week to complete some related tasks.

It’s through EXPERIENCE and COLLABORATION that we believe Coaches and Clubs can keep moving forward with Confidence.
If you’re ready for A New Way Coaching, Let’s Go. Let’s FACILITATE THE GPL WAY.
